Climate Legislature in 2021

“We have to create culture, don't watch TV, don't read magazines, don't even listen to NPR. Create your own roadshow. The nexus of space and time where you are now is the most immediate sector of your universe, and if you're worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else, then you are disempowered, you're giving it all away to icons, icons which are maintained by an electronic media so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y. This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking. That is all cultural diversion, and what is real is you and your friends and your associations, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, your fears. And we are told 'no', we're unimportant, we're peripheral. 'Get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that.' And then you're a player, you don't want to even play in that game. You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to t

I would like to apologize to those I told I would host an event in March, having been 5 months since hosting an event; I got a bit pussyfooted. with that being said, I would like to challenge myself and the entire Mojave desert to clean the wetlands park every third Thursday up until November 17th. if you'd like to join me in this effort, I will be in the Wetlands Parking lot by the visitor center from 3:30 to 4p, from there we’d head over to the weir bridge. I would really recommend long comfortable pants and running shoes. thank you for reading and onward 2022!

Composting Update

Image
Hallo, I just wanted to share some of my composting pictures. I started this back mid-way through October and I've gotta say, these latest pics look absolutely beautiful. The pictures are ordered from about thirty minutes ago first to October at the very end. Some other things I've noticed is that you probably dont want to keep a compost bin indoors, it estank berry bad. Also, I have the feeling that if you turn it more often, itll decompose faster. I probably only turned it once a month and watered it every other week; for the most part very low maintenance but you can literally see it bursting at the seams with nutrients. home-grown backyard gold at its finest B). Thanks for spending time reading this.

BEarthday Clean-up Recap

Image
Ah, so the Clean Vegas Initiative’s first Earthday clean-up event I hosted went phenomenal! I’m really proud of what we got cleaned. It was an awesome hands-on learning experience. Like the first thing I'd learned is that 12-4 is the hottest hours of the day. The whole thing was conceived about a month prior, but once you get the ball rolling, there's no stopping it. Man was it expressive, imagine just getting started on screen-printing a day prior to the event. A great piece of advice I picked up along the way is that if you don’t sacrifice for what you want; what you want becomes the sacrifice. To be quite frank, only my friend jesus showed up besides my family but this whole thing wasn’t for me. Through me yes, but for me no. Simply to show some luv and appreciation for mama mundo. And boy-o did we get a lot cleaned! A total of 13 42-gallon trashbags. I’ll be the first to say it though, a lot of it was air, but crispy plastic is hard to condense. The glass bag was pretty im

"Conflict diamonds Child labor tennis shoes Genocide energy Gentrified gin and juice Slave trade banks Rape-based internet movies What's a straight-laced simpleton to do? With a strange fate twist and fame Except talk shit and name off a list of gains But do you realize I'd find my lips in flames If I ever took pride in these whips and chains"   - Jonny 5 'Whip$ & Chains$'

How to Compost

“Our world, like a charnel-house, is strewn with the detritus of dead epochs.” - Le Corbusier, Towards a New Architecture

Climate Spook

“We do not “come into” this world; we come out of it, as leaves from a tree.” - Alan Watts

Copious Carbon

“It is thus that our entire civilization has no respect for plants or for animals, other than pets – the flattering dog, the wily cat, the obedient horse, and the mimicking parrot. It is high time to go back, or on, to animism and to cultivate good manners toward all sentient beings, including vegetables, and even lakes and mountains.”-Alan watts

What Waste?

Image
The United States alone produces about 268 million tonnes of trash yearly; if everyone were to live like Americans do, we’d need 5¹/₂ Earth’s worth of resources. That’s absolutely nuts to butts! I like to sort trash into 3 categories: glass, aluminum & plastic. The Republic Services takes care of our trash, but it doesn't just vanish into thin air; they just bury then landscape over it, like if we were cats or something. Recycling is a really good way to reduce our use of oil based products. We all produce trash and recycling is literally turning one’s trash into another's treasure. Plastic is sticky and is made of oil, and there's only 3 destinations it has, it either gets recycled, goes to a landfill, or becomes pollution. Discarded metals like aluminum are legit poor man’s gold; going for around 50c per pound. Unfortunately glass doesn't have a set unit price per pound but a cool thing about glass is that it’s made of silica which is an analog of silicon a

So, the first post.. its currently 3:33 am on August 7th,2020 haha jeez. Okay so lets just cut to the chase and please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bryan Minoth and I am born and raised from Vegas, Class of 19', Valley Vikings woot woot! I hope to create a beacon of information regarding climate change and a clean-up group newsletter where I would and host clean-up events. It'd be great! I don't have much background in hosting and networking events but I really like hiking and I feel like I have a calling whenever I see trash out n about. I've been thinking about making this for over a year and have had a few false starts. I've been trying to learn html via w3 but found blogger. I hope to use this blog to finally get the ball rolling on a personal reconstruction on some recycling and activism vibes and hope you'll enjoy following me on this journey.
